Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer. Thanks so much for your question.

This is a tough decision, isn't it? Cryoablation is a lesser procedure, but the side effects might not be what you want; hysterectomy is a bigger surgery, recovery is longer, and it will have a permanent effect. Did your doctor go over the alternatives with you? Did you choose cryoablation for specific reasons?

Here is a transcript of two doctors speaking about endometrial ablation vs. hysterectomy. Keep in mind that the conference they are speaking at happened 10 years ago, so treatment has developed since then. But what they emphasize is that the single most important factor in choosing one procedure over the other is the selection of the procedure by the patient. The second most important factor was the expertise of the surgeon involved. Here's the link. It took my computer a few minutes to build, so don't worry if that happens:

At 55, I am imagining that you are in perimenopause, and your hormones are in transition. Are you interested in hormone replacement therapy, or would you like to avoid it? Was that a factor in your treatment?

What were the reasons you first chose the uterine ablation? Are you having second thoughts now?
