I have had a series of colds since December and have ended up with bronchitis. Needless to say, I've gone through boxes of tissues. My left ear was full from January until just a few days ago (mid-March). Your ear should restore its balance on its own unless there is a more serious problem. Both of my ears close periodically if I'm not very careful when blowing my nose. I went to see a NP in January after my ear closed and she had me take an antihistamine which probably made things worse in the long run.

I finally saw my regular doctor about 1 1/2 weeks ago because my symptoms changed from cold to bronchitis. She was very clear about not sticking anything in my ears or pouring stuff into them. She had me take 12 hour sudafed and keep it in my system, make sure that I am drinking lots of fluid, avoid caffine, allow all of this mucous to stay "soft" and get out of my body. She said to avoid antihistamines because that will only dry everything up and my body wants everything out. She has been right. My ears are opening and I am feeling better slowly but surely.

Good luck! Be patient. Things should adjust but it could take some time.
