Maria, while I agree that it's important to feel comfortable with a doctor, I think it's just as critical to check the physician's credentials and training. I personally know some excellent neurosurgeons some people might consider "abrupt" who are individuals I would trust with my own brain literally in their hands. I also know some very nice, charming individuals who are incompetent. The best route for all of us is to be our own best advocate and find the physicians who have the best skills and are committed to partnering with us to ensure we get the best care possible.
