Hi Anon - I'm not sure what you mean when you say you "figured out" that you have HPV or how you "figured out" you gave it to your girlfriend. Here's an overview of HPV, how it's transmitted, symptoms and treatment:

HPV is just one type of sexually transmitted disease (STD). If you are saying that you have self-diagnosed that you and your girlfriend both have some type of STD then it's in the best interest of both of you to see your healthcare providers for a physical exam, diagnostic testing, a definitive diagnosis and a treatment plan. Left untreated, some STDs can have very serious consequences including infertility and cervical cancer for women.

In the meantime if you do have sex it would be best to use a latex condom and to not engage in oral sex. You may want to abstain, however, to be safe, as condoms do not protect against all forms of HPV and it's also possible to pass HPV to a partner just through skin-to-skin contact in the genital area with no intercourse.

I wish the best for both of you. Will you let us know when you will see your physicians?

Take care, Pat
