Clindamycin should be banned. I was perfectly well 1 week ago and even though I requested Penicillin for an infected tooth, my new dentist gave me 300mg of this 3 times per day. All hell broke loose. Have never felt so sick. Nausea in waves, severe cramping in the stomach and abdomen, tremors in the hands, off-balance, increased heart rate and thumping palpitations which felt as if my heart was turning over in my chest. Over 5 days that symptom increases from occasionally to once every 8 seconds missed heart beat. Liver function testing done at the hospital E.R. showed (for the first time in my life) abnormal readings. The nurse thought I may be having a stroke/heart attack as I was also having central chest pain. A week later, 3 days after stopping this idiot drug, I am still having cramping, heart thumps and palpitations, nausea, especially on lying down, fatigue, and a fear it may have in fact given me Clostridium Deficiele, a life-threatening condition! I read this all for myself on reliable medical sits online. Nothing sensational about those reports, just fact! I am trying to hold out tonight to see a GP tomorrow who may actually DO something about whatever this medication has caused. Hopefully there is something that will kill these effects. My stomach feels as if a hole has been eaten in it. I wouldn't let ANYONE give me this drug again.
