Hi JenB,
I just began researching because lately my legs have gotten really stiff. The morning is worse, but when I get up after sitting for a little while my legs get stiff again. I found something very interesting online during my research - lyme disease can be the underlying cause and if this is the cause, you will definitely want to have it checked because it can get much more serious if left untreated. I will be having myself checked for it as well, most likely it's nothing more than arthritis (which I have already been diagnosed with), but my other symptoms make me feel I at least need to be checked for it.
Late Stage Lyme Disease
Acute rheumatic fever
Arthritis
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Cold & Flu
Depression
Dysthymia/seasonal depression disorder, PND
Ehrlichiosis
Encephalitis
Fibromyalgia

Infectious arthritis
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

He also tested me for Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. All of these tests came back negative. I did have one reactive strain (41 kDa) of Borrelia burgdorferi, the spirochetal bacteria which causes Lyme disease.
