I had UTI's all the time and was told by my Dr. that it was caused from sex. I did everything that I was told and nothing helped...until I came across a website that gave home remedies. When you feel the urgency or the first effects you may have, drink an 8oz glass of water with one table spoon of baking soda. I have followed this method of "self" medicating for more than a year and haven't sufford with a UTI since.
