Condom with a lubricant may help your situation to avoid pregnancy since you are not inclined to try birth control pills. Also wanted to mention that there are several different types of birth control pills. It is not uncommon to need to try a couple different ones to find one that's right for you. If you're a smoker, you may want to avoid the pill anyway as it comes with some increased risks.
