I had cancer in 2012 - it was a really rare form of Uterine cancer & required a total hysterectomy. I had the surgery via the DaVinci robot & they had those robot arms go from my upper abdomen down into my groin under the skin. (they had to remove lymph nodes from my groin). Well, just imagine jamming a fork into one end of a sausage repeatedly, and you pretty much can imagine what happened to my body. The fat got moved around under the skin & I have what I call the "wall of fat" from my belly button into my upper thighs. It's awful. I have a lovely "pouch" in my lower abdomen that has a life of its own. I think I can hear it breathing at night. . . . .

My weight hasn't changed very much, but any fat I do have settles there now. To add insult to injury, they were supposed to remove my omentum (which is a layer of fat running in front of your organs from your breast bone to your pubic bone). Instead of taking the entire thing, they removed the upper half only. Why, I don't know. So this contributed to the "ledge" I have at the belly button. My lower abdomen juts out - I tell people you can rest a beer on it! I can't wear most of my clothes. Even if I buy a larger size - nothing fits, since no one is actually shaped this way.

I've just made arrangements to bite the bullet & get the fat removed via laser lipo. I can't live with it. If you have breast cancer, breast reconstruction is covered by insurance. Unfortunately, for anything uterine - you're just left with your disfigured body. . . . nightmare . . . .
