Hello "Anonymous",
I received my flu shot around the end of August 2011, and I was surprised to still have pain several weeks later, and the pain had gotten worse, especially at night? I was concerned that it was given too high and in the wrong spot. I got it at kroger where I had received flu shots in the previous years however I believe that the tech was not trained adequately and gave me a shot too high. An MRI I had the other day showed "Moderated chronic tendinosis with a small subacromial bursitis" which appears to be the general conscensus that I've found on the internet, with reference to flu shots in the wrong location??? I do know that compensation isn't considered until after 6months of pain, from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. I'm not sure what will help with the pain, I've take vicodin, tramadol and naproxen and they are all temporizing. I do hope that your pain resolves. I don't recommend joint injections with steroids!!! but possibly oral steroids may provide some relief, at least that is what I'm going to try, it seems that nothing is absolute in resolving this pain that many, many people have suffered over the past several years.

I am a practicing, board certified internist/pediatrician who has been working in ER for almost 10 yrs and have been an advocate of flu shots, but after all this, I think I'm reconsidering flu shots!!!!

Of course I STRONGLY advise anyone who is having the same problem to have the facility, that administered the vaccine, pay for any and all medical expenses related to the pain/discomfort and medical evaluation regarding the vaccine mishap.
Good luck to you.
