Thank you for sharing your story, Becky. Being able to cross that finish line had to be a magical moment for you!

This summer, I've been training a small team for the Komen 3-Day 60-mile Walk to be in DFW in November. My core team is made up of my marathon buddies and none of us has done anything like this (we've done the 5Ks, though).

We received an email from someone who said she was training for a 3-Day walk in another state and asked to join us. Ever since, we've had the pleasure of her company on our long walks. She is a 10+ year survivor of breast cancer and an inspiration to our team.

I'm just getting used to the idea of wearing pink, but even the guy who will be walking with us said he'll wear a pink shirt to honor the survivors who'll be on the walk.
I'm walking for friends and family (on my DH's side) lost to breast cancer, for the survivors among us, and for my new friend who has done the walk several times as a survivor and brought something special to our little team. Those of us who have never faced cancer take much for granted.
