Dr. Wright describes how emotional support benefits a cancer patient.

Dr. Wright:
The research in this area would indicate that women who have had the benefit of either a group or supportive family tend to thrive and have a better result. So it would be indicated then that women who tend to close up and hibernate, so to speak, are containing their cancer rather than releasing it. Now that’s metaphorical, okay, but, in that release, there is a quality of life that is improved. It may not affect duration because we don’t know that, but we do know that the quality of life is enhanced when one is not in emotional isolation.
