If you don’t know about bp Magazine, you’re really missing out on a great resource for understanding bipolar illness.

bp Magazine is a magazine focused completely around bipolar disorder. It comes out seasonally, four times a year. The magazine subscription is $19.95/year. To order the magazine, call 877-575-4673.

bp Magazine covers all aspects of this illness from medication issues, to symptom management issues to new breakthroughs in treatment. It’s written by people with the disease and people who care about people with this problem.

www.bphope.com, the website for bp Magazine, describes the mag like this:

“bp Magazine is a 50,000 circulation quarterly speaking to the 2.5 million Americans who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, along with their families and medical caregivers. bp is not a medical journal, but rather, a lively and information-rich consumer magazine.

Our editorial objective is to serve as a guide for those with bipolar disorder who want to live healthier, more balanced lives. bp delivers information, hope and harmony to its readers. bp also hopes to provide a forum for discussions on cutting-edge thinking and emerging topics about bipolar disorder.

bp Magazine cover[s] subjects of broad interest such as emotional coping, health and/or bipolar treatment issues, the history of bipolar manic depression, research, personalities, lifestyles and creating a more stress-free pattern of living with bipolar disorder.

Each issue also contains...interviews with those living with bipolar; food and nutrition; healthy living; spirituality; parenting with childhood depression; exercise, wellness, and so on.”

I’ve written several articles for the magazine, many of which I’ve reprinted on this blog.

Interestingly enough, the magazine used to come wrapped up so that no one could see that a person was receiving a mental illness publication, but now there’s no wrapping on the mag, unless one requests a “privacy envelope.”

Strange, isn’t it? There should be no shame in receiving a mag about bipolar illness, but there can be, still.

I highly recommend this magazine.
