Millions of people are affected by bipolar disorder, so it’s easy to know of someone with the diagnosis. It might be a close friend or family member, or someone you don't know so well. You can make a positive impact on those who live with bipolar disorder.

Here are three easy things that you can do to help those around you who are dealing with the diagnosis:

1) Learn as much as you can.

Being informed about bipolar disorder is one of the best ways that you can support those who are dealing with the diagnosis. Don’t believe everything that people say about the condition, and instead, do your own research.

2) Encourage the people that you care about to get help.

Medical treatment is vital to making sure that people can take control of bipolar disorder. You want to make sure that anyone you know who is dealing with bipolar disorder is getting the help they need.

3) Be patient.

Each person’s story is different when it comes to how they deal with their bipolar disorder. Know that they are fighting through it, and try your best not to bring added pressure to difficult situations.
