Dr.Michael Johnell is the Program Director of the Bariatric Surgical Service at North Colorado Medical Center in Colorado. The specialty of the Bariatric Surgical Service is the performance of adjustable gastric banding operations, such as the LAP-BAND® and the REALIZE® Band operations.
The program started up in 2001. For a number of years Dr. Johnell had been doing gastric bypass, LAP-BAND® and adjustable gastric banding. In recent years Dr. Johnell and his associates have been focusing on adjustable gastric banding, including the LAP-BAND® and the REALIZE® Band operations.
"Dr. Johnell is an advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgeon, specializing in the Adjustable Gastric Band procedure. Bariatric surgery constitutes 98 percent of his practice. He has 22 years of general surgery experience, 17 years of advanced laparoscopic surgery experience, and 7 years of laparoscopic bariatric surgery experience."
Patients for these procedures come to the North Colorado Medical Center from the surrounding areas of northern Colorado, Denver, Wyoming and Nebraska.
