Gail explains how she copes with stressful situations now that she no longer drinks alcohol.
Gail:
Over the course of your sobriety you get stronger and you get better and you can deal with things easier.
You know, I went through a suicide, a family member, on my one-year anniversary of sobriety and that was huge for me because when my father had committed suicide I drank all that.
I drank all my fear, all my anger and the resentment has built over the years and you just stuff and stuff it.
This time I was able to help this person go through the loss of a father with a suicide.
And I think it was kind of my God’s way of going, okay, you didn’t deal with it the first time so I am going to give it to you again so you can deal with it within yourself and help somebody else.
People that we pass through our life are for a reason. And eventually we don’t know the reason what the reason is, when or why that we do down the road and go, oh okay, well that makes sense.
To me that’s God working in my life and I didn’t have that before when I drank.
